How bands promote themselves

I looked at a few bands to see how they promoted themselves via the internet. I looked at bands such as Radio Head, Lily Alan, You me at six, Enter Shikari and so forth.
To start of with I looked at You me at six. They have their own website and on their website they have link to their Facebook account, Bebo, Myspace & Youtube.
They use their Youtube to not only post their music videos but to also post up videos of themselves talking to their fans and answering their questions. They also have this section on their website called "Backstage" and it's for people to sign up and gain access to exclusive content, video premieres, competitions and other goods.
Another band I looked at was Radio Head who blog to their fans about their thoughts, music, lyrics, inspiration and many other things. Their website layout is also made to look like a blog & has links to other things such as their tour dates, shop, message board for the fans, "scrap book" and a memory hole.
I then looked at a third band called Enter Shikari whom also, like You me at six, use Myspace, Bebo, Facebook, Twitter & Youtube to promote themselves. The interesting thing I found was a page called "The tour blog" And it consists of videos and pictures from the band on tour. It's great and is there for all of their fans to view anytime they like. They also have a link to a "community member's area" which gives members access to exclusive blogs, downloads, goodies, ticket pre sales & the official forum.
You can also post comments & rate things throughout the site, upload videos & pictures of your own and share content from the bands shows.
