Amplification, Disjuncture and Illustration

Amplification - Is where a video introduces new meanings that do not relate to the lyrics but add different meanings.

Disjuncture - Contradiction between lyrics and video

Illustration

Eminem - When I'm Gone, tells us a story throughout the video. It gives you a sense of what the song is about. In this video we can clearly see a link between the lyrics  and the video. I think the construction of the video was thought out carefully. There is clear narrative, which follows the linear structure with a beggining, middle and end.



Disjuncture

In this video N-Dubz are mostly standing in front of a plane and one of them are on a boat. Watching and listening to the lyrics they mention the word Best Behaviour, which is also the title of the song. This suggest that the video will be about them being on their Best Behaviour, but looking at the video we cannot see the a link between them, except for the first bit where he drops his bag on the floor. Dappy is grinning at the camera, while there is a women swimming behind him in a tank.



Amplification
Amplification is where a video introduces new meanings that do not relate to the lyrics but add different meanings. This happens in many pop videos. Florence and the Machine uses amplification in many of there videos. An example of this is You've Got The Love.

Risk Assesment

•Not dropping the camera and placing it carefully

•Having someone stand by the camera so people can notice the tripod and not trip over it

•Covering the camera from the rain if It rains

•Always putting the equipment correctly into their cases.

•On music channels like MTV, Kerrang, The box, etc

Pitch shots & special effects

•We will have plenty of shots of the lead singer walking so shots of her feet and and panning shots following her in different angles.

•While she is walking we thought we would have a shot of her and specific words which relate
to the song like kill hand thrill etc.

•We would like to use the green screen for some of these effects.

•We will have a lot of close ups of the lead singer to show her emotion and determination to catch her lover.

Pitch costume

•The costume that our lead singer (Roxy) wil be wearing is Androgynous styled clothing and also there will be a hint of rock
clothing.

• This will be relating more to the artist then actual song but we could get our lead singer to wear bright and
attracting colours which will be relating to the song as it is about love/romance.

• Our costume will be cleary related to
the song because we are going to use bright colours not dark and dull as she is going out looking for love.

•Performer walks out the tube station and plugs in her headphones, music will then start playing.

• She walks down the street, while walking she sees flashbacks of her following a guy.

•At the end of the song it says "dont let go of my hand,at which point we will put the two performers hands together while the camera pans up, as they walk in to cyber dog.
